Power of a Praying Wife

The Power of a Praying Wife (POPW) is a group of married ladies who desire to be the kind of wife to our husbands as God intended. Our vision is to be women who fulfil God’s purpose for our lives, as wives primarily, and also in all the other roles that God has called us into.

We are keen to be wives after God’s heart in obedience and commitment to His calling upon our lives for this role. We consider being a wife a calling (by God) into a ministry unto our husbands. We therefore seek to serve in this ministry with our eyes on Him who called us.

A powerful tool for our ministry is prayer for our husbands without which we truly believe we cannot fulfil that calling. We continue to learn that as we develop a relationship with God through prayer (speaking and listening), we ourselves are changed from within, and our own relationship with our Father deepens even more, and this impacts on the ability to fulfil our roles as wives.

However, we understand that the power of a praying wife, is not taking authority or control over our husbands but rather it is relinquishing self-power, relying on God's power and taking authority against the plans of the devil for our marriages and our husbands (Luke 10:19). We therefore try not to focus on our husband’s ‘faults’ ; rather we focus on ourselves and what we should be doing as wives knowing that only God through the Holy Spirit can help us.

How the Group works:

We meet once every month usually on a Friday evening – in each other’s homes (It is not compulsory to meet in every member’s home) and also in Jesus House (church). We discuss topical marital issues, share and learn from each other, study the bible, and pray together for our husbands. Most importantly, we encourage each other to pray continuously for our husbands as a crucial part of our calling!

We also occasionally meet purely to socialise, relax, let loose and have fun!!! To join or for more information contact us.
